(Day of the Awakening Blast)

Yom Teruah
‘ום תְּרוּעָה
- Lev. 23:23 – 25: “Then YaHaVah spoke to Moses, saying, speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month (Rosh Chodesh – בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֗דֶשׁ) you shall have a Sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets ( תְּרוּעָה ), a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to YaHaVah.’”
- The first mention of “teruah” is found in this Scripture. This word is used in the Tanakh 36 times. Yom Teruah, the fifth appointed time is also known as the day and hour no man knows because it depends on the sighting of the seventh Rosh Chodesh, head of the month or New Moon. (See Mt. 24:35 – 37)
- Teruah is defined as an alarm, signal, sound of tempest, shout, shout or blast of war, an alarm or joy. The “teruah” sound is made with a shofar.
- The numerical value of “teruah” is 681; 6 + 8 +1 = 15. This word comes from the root word “ru’ah” which also has a numerical value of 276, 2 + 7 + 6 = 15.
- The fifteenth day of the first month is the appointed time of Unleavened Bread while the fifteenth day of the seventh month is the first day of the seventh appointed time, Sukkot.
- In its ancient form, “teruah” would read as follows: “Those who are sealed were from the beginning, those who have secured themselves to Yeshua, the Son of YaHaVah, as they watch for Him who is to be revealed.”
- Yom Teruah, the Day of the awakening blast, is the precursor to the final ingathering. The blast of the shofar always precedes an event relating to the House of Israel.
- As I said, the word “teruah” is defined as an alarm, signal, sound of tempest, shout, shout or blast of war, an alarm or joy. There are three main types of shofar blasts — Tekiah, a long, continuous blast that serves as a summons or wake-up call; a Shevarim, which is three medium-length blasts that are often compared to the sound of weeping and Teruah, which is a series of very short, staccato sounds that have been compared to an urgent alarm, calling us to rouse from our spiritual slumber. Teruah is speaking only to the way the shofar is blown.
- There is a fourth type, Tekiah gedolah, is just a longer version of the regular Tekiah blast.
- The first mention of “shofar” is found in Ex. 19:16: “And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightning’s, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet (Shofar-H7782) exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.” **As you can see, the word “shofar” was translated as trumpet.
- The Shofar is being blown for the benefit of all the people. The “shofar” is simply defined as a horn, a rams horn.
- As I said, the Hebrew word “shofar” is defined as a rams horn. I will submit to you that this very specific item is not only used for a specific event, is produces a “sound” like no other!
- The first mention of “sound” is found in Ge. 3:8: “And they heard the sound (אֶת־ק֨וֹל ) of YaHaVah Elohay walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of YaHaVah Elohay among the trees of the garden.”
- The Et Qol, the Strength of the Covenant sound is Yeshua, as He is the Et, the Aleph Tav. The Fathers “voice” is being manifested in Gan Eden by Yeshua.
- The ancient Hebrew meaning of “Qol” is; “Face Jerusalem, secure yourself to the One who comes with His authority.”
- The numerical value of “Qol” is 136; 1 + 3 + 6 = 10. The Ten Words! Was there a “sound” heard at the giving of the Ten Words?
- Ex. 19:16 – 17: “Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thundering’s (קוֹל ) and lightning’s, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound ( קוֹל) of the trumpet (שֹׁפָ֖ר ) was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with Yah, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.”
- Ex. 19:19: “And when the blast ( ק֣וֹל) of the trumpet (הַשּׁוֹפָ֔ר ) sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and Elohim answered him by voice (בְקֽוֹל ).
- The Father and the Son are both present at this occurrence as the “im” portion of Elohim represents the masculine plural form of Elohay, the singular form.
- In its ancient form, ‘Shofar” would read: “The Divine Presence, through Yeshua, the Son will speak, who was from the beginning.

- The first time we see Scripture speaking to a “ram” is with regard to the 10th trial of Abraham, the Akeidah, the binding of Isaac.
- Ge. 22:1 – :2 “Now it came to pass after these things that Yah tested Abraham, and said to him, ‘Abraham!’ And he said, ‘here I am.’ Then He said, ‘take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.’”
- V 13: “Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram (אֶת־הָאַ֔יִל ) and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.” **Isaac represents Yeshua as the seed of promise, the only begotten of The Father. The “ram” also represents Messiah Yeshua as the “One” to satisfy the requirement for sacrifice.
- The Book of Legends has many Rabbinical opinions on the origin of this particular ram.
- It is said that the sages teach that after sacrificing the ram it’s horns were made into shofars. The left horn was the shofar that sounded at Mt. Sinai when the Torah was given. The right horn, the larger one, was put away to be sounded at the final redemption.
- Personally, I like the foregoing statement. I like the idea that the “last Shofar,” the blast that will bring about the second advent of King Messiah, will come from the original ram, the ram that was created at twilight on day six of creation.
- This appointed time speaks loud and clear regarding the theme of sevens. I will begin with the first line of Scripture.
- בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית בָּרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֑ים אֵ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֵ֥ת הָאָֽרֶץ׃
- The seventh letter is the Bet. This letter is the second letter of the
- Hebrew Aleph Bet. It means house, tent or family. Yom Teruah then, speaks about the “family” of YaHaVah. His family are the “covenant believers,” those who will reside inHis tent or His house beginning with Gan Eden and ending with the New Jerusalem.
- Since the letter Bet has a numerical value of two, Yom Teruah is speaking to the second advent of King Messiah which occurs at the onset of the seventh millennia thus connecting us to the seventh festival of Sukkot.
- The letter Bet also speaks to the “second sons,” those who find themselves as the ancestors of Messiah Yeshua, i.e. Abel, Adam, Jacob, Perez to name a few.
- The seventh word of Scripture is “the earth.” Yeshua will establish His millennial kingdom in the seventh millennia, on “the earth.”
- The first Shabbat was set apart and made holy on day seven of creation.
- Ex. 31:13 – 14: “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am YaHaVah who sanctifies you. You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people.’”
- The seventh letter of the Hebrew Aleph Bet is the Zayin which means to cut or to cut off. This definition is found with regard to the word “Brit,” which means a “cut” covenant, i.e. the Covenant of Pieces. The family of YaHaVah will have aligned themselves with the “cut covenant.”
- We can easily see this word in connection with circumcision, the sign of the covenant. Ge. 17: 9 -14: “Then Yah said to Abraham, ‘as for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come. This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you. For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring.
- Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant. Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.’”
- Something significant will happen to the household of YaHaVah through King Messiah, in the seventh millennia. In my opinion, covenant Israel will be gathered together to meet Yeshua at the onset of the seventh millennia as the waters were gathered together on day two of creation. I see a spiritual gathering occurring in our day and hour as many begin to follow and adhere to the “Hebrew Roots” of their faith.
- Lev. 25:9: “Then you shall cause the trumpet (shofar) of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet (shofar) to sound throughout all your land.” **For the benefit of all the people.
- Joshua 6:20: “So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets (shofar). And it happened when the people heard the sound ( אֶת־ק֣וֹל) of the trumpet (shofar), and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.” **For the benefit of all the people.
- Zec. 9:14: “Then YaHaVah will be seen over them, and His arrow will go forth like lightning. Then YaHaVah will blow the trumpet (shofar), and go with whirlwinds from the south.”
- Joel 2:1 – 2: “Blow the trumpet (שׁוֹפָ֜ר ) in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of YaHaVah is coming, for it is at hand: A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been; nor will there ever be any such after them, even for many successive generations.”
- The Tanakh makes the distinction between the “shofar” and the “silver trumpets,” however, the Brit Chadasha does not.
- The shofar can be blown by everyone while the silver trumpets (only two) can only be blown by the priesthood within the Temple precincts.
- Num. 10:1 – 10: “And YaHaVah spoke to Moses, saying: ‘make two silver trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you shall use them for calling the congregation and for directing the movement of the camps. When they blow both of them, all the congregation shall gather before you at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
- But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the heads of the divisions of Israel, shall gather to you. When you sound the advance, the camps that lie on the east side shall then begin their journey. When you sound the advance the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall begin their journey; they shall sound the call for them to begin their journeys. And when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but not sound the advance. The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and these shall be to you as an ordinance forever throughout your generations. When you go to war in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before YaHaVah your Elohay, and you will be saved from your enemies.
- Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be a memorial for you before your Elohay: I am YaHaVah your Elohay.”
- The Hebrew word for “trumpet,” in this case is “chătsôtsᵉrâh,”
- חֲצֽוֹצְרֹ֣ת). This word is defined as a trumpet or clarion.
- The numerical value is 794; 7 + 9 +4 = 20.
- Ps. 47:5: “Yah has gone up with a shout, YaHaVah with the sound of a trumpet (shofar).”
- Ps. 81:3: “Blow the trumpet (shofar) at the time of the New Moon, at the full moon, on our solemn feast day.”
- Ps. 98:6: “With trumpets (chătsôtsᵉrâh) and the sound of a horn (shofar); shout joyfully before YaHaVah, the King.”
- It’s apparent that the translators used these words interchangeably. In my opinion, the shofar represents the physical realm while the silver trumpets represents the spiritual realm.
- I am explaining the difference between these two instruments because it will impact how we understand its usage in the Brit Chadasha.
- Terry and I are in agreement regarding the use of the word “trumpet” in the Brit Chadasha. Recall the Temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. so it is safe to say the writers of the Brit Chadasha could not have been speaking to an existing priesthood blowing them.
- With this in mind, we will examine a few usages of “trumpet” in the Brit Chadasha.
- Mt. 24:29 – 31: “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
- This Scripture relates to the final ingathering .
- 1 Cor. 15:52: “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
- The “last Trump” is found in Rev. 11:15 – 19: “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Messiah, and He shall reign forever and ever! And the twenty-four elders who sat before Yah on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped Yah, we give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, because You have taken Your great power and reigned.
- The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, and those who fear Your name, small and great, and should destroy those who destroy the earth. Then the temple of Yah was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightning’s, noises, thundering’s, an earthquake, and great hail.”
- His Temple is in heaven where the Book of the Covenant resides inside the Ark of the Covenant. The heavenly trumpets and the heavenly Shofar HaGadol also dwell in the heavenly realm.
- 1st Thes. 4:16 – 17: “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of Yah. And the dead in Messiah will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”
- Rev. 1:10: “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, ‘am the Aleph and the Tav, the First and the Last,’ and what you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”
- Rev. 14:1 – 3: “Then I looked and saw the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him 144,000 who had His name and His Father’s name written on their foreheads. And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of many waters and the loud rumbling of thunder. And the sound I heard was like harpists strumming their harps. And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. And no one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.…”
- In conclusion, the sound of the Shofar is the sound of repentance and resurrection, the same sound that was heard walking in Gan Eden, the very same voice that said come up hither! Is. 26:19 – 20: “Your dead shall live; together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust; for your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, until the indignation is past.”
- Revelation 4:1-2: “After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, ‘come up hither,’ and I will show thee things which must be hereafter.”
- Furthermore, the seventh letter, word and day tell a complete story.
ב
The Bet is the second letter of the Aleph Bet and represents Yeshua, the Son. The seventh letter represents The Fathers house, tent and family.
HaEretz
The seventh word represents the location where Yeshua The Son, and the
Family will reside, on the earth
HaSabbath
The seventh day of creation tells us when Yeshua, the Son and the Family will reside on earth together. The family will be honoring the Sabbath day, resting with King Messiah in the seventh millennia.
The message of Yom Teruah for all believers, is to “wake up,” prepare our self because King Messiahs return is nigh.
